A standing event.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday 9<sup>th<\/sup> July \u2013 delegates have a free evening after the poster session.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday 10<sup>th<\/sup> July &#8211; 7pm &#8211; Formal Dinner at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.keble.ox.ac.uk\/about\/tour\/hall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Keble College Dining Hall<\/a> \u2013 three courses with wine and soft drinks. Keble college bar is open from 6 pm to 11:30, for gathering before &amp; after the meal.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday 11<sup>th<\/sup> July \u2013 IOC Committee Dinner at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thevaultsandgarden.com\/hire-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oxford Vaults<\/a>.\u00a0Delegates have a free evening after the poster session.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Parking<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>There is virtually no car parking available at the venue.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The LOC strongly recommends that delegates do not book rental cars.\u00a0Some of the recommended hotels (Best Western Linton Lodge, and Oxford Spires) offer onsite parking. For delegates with mobility issues, please contact us and we will be pleased to make arrangements on your behalf for car parking.<\/p>\n<p>On-street parking at St Giles is limited to two or three-hour time slots at a cost of \u00a32 per hour.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Conference Badges &amp; Official ID<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>You will be provided with an official IPPW-2019 conference badge during Registration at the Physics Building. Do please wear your badge during your attendance at the Short Course, the Workshop, and at our social events.\u00a0 \u00a0International visitors need not carry their passports for the purposes of identification unless they choose to do so.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Wi-Fi &amp; Power<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Wi-Fi will be available throughout the Workshop. You will be given the group username and password at Registration.\u00a0Please remember to bring your UK power adapter with you.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Local information<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Clocks will be set to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeanddate.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">British Summer Time<\/a> (which starts on 31 March 2019 and ends on 27 October 2019).<\/p>\n<h3>Printing<\/h3>\n<p>Posters can be printed locally at the Oxford Print Centre <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxford-print-centre.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.oxford-print-centre.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Historic Oxford<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There are many historic buildings, bars, and gardens all within walking distance of the University venue which will still be open to visitors after the Workshop closes.<strong> \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tripadvisor.co.uk\/Attraction_Review-g186361-d212319-Reviews-Bridge_of_Sighs-Oxford_Oxfordshire_England.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Bridge of Sighs<\/a> \u2013 joining the Old and New Quadrangles of Hertford College over New College Lane. Architecturally interesting.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Logic_Lane\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Logic Lane<\/a> \u2013 a very narrow lane with a great name and definitely worthy of a photograph.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordcastlequarter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oxford Castle Quarter<\/a> \u2013 the Castle is a large, partly ruined Norman medieval castle still atop its hill, on the West side of central Oxford. Today, shops, bars and restaurants nestle at the foot of the castle.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk\/pubs\/oxfordshire\/turf-tavern\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Turf Tavern, 4-5 Bath Place, Oxford <\/a>A popular bar housed in an 18th-century building, down a cobbled lane. Boasts a Beer Garden and Modern British Food menu.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bearoxford.co.uk\/?utm_source=googlemybusiness&amp;utm_medium=organic&amp;utm_campaign=googlemybusiness_website\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Bear Inn, 6 Alfred Street, Oxford<\/a> \u2013 serving Oxford since 1242, this pub describes itself as a \u201csmall but mighty institution\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who feel energetic and adventurous, you may like to try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oxfordpunting.co.uk\/book-online\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">punting<\/a> from<strong> Magdalen (pronounced Maudlin) <\/strong>Bridge Boathouse along the River Cherwell. Situated underneath Magdalen College Tower, at the lower end of Oxford&#8217;s high street you will find Magdalen Bridge Boathouse. Hire traditionally crafted punts, rowing boats and pedalos; or spoil yourself by hiring a Chauffeured boat. Picnic hampers may be pre-ordered and a \u201cchauffeur\u201d to punt your boat if requested. Open until 9.00pm (or one hour before sunset). Punts can also be hired at the Cherwell Boathouse, a 15-minute walk to the North of the meeting venue.<\/p>\n<p>Shakespeare Outdoor Theatre. There are typically several outdoor theatre productions of Shakespeare plays at several venues in Oxford&#8217;s city centre.\u00a0 Listings for theatrical performances (and music, cinema and other performances) can all be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyinfo.co.uk\/whats-on\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.dailyinfo.co.uk\/whats-on<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Local weather <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>English summer weather can range from cool (16 Celsius) to very hot (28 Celsius) and occasionally humid. We recommend you bring an umbrella, just in case the famous British rain decides to fall.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Credit Cards<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Credit cards are accepted at most businesses including restaurants, pubs, shops, general retailers and gift stores, petrol (gas)\u00a0 stations, pharmacies and grocery stores. Major credit cards include Visa and MasterCard. Unfortunately, American Express is not widely accepted. ATMs are also located in many areas across town.<\/p>\n<h2>H<strong>ow to get to Oxford<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>From London airports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heathrow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London Heathrow<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gatwickairport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gatwick<\/a> airports, there is a frequent direct bus with power and free wifi direct to Oxford city centre, which runs 24 hours a day. Tickets can be purchased on the bus or online. Details available at <a href=\"https:\/\/airline.oxfordbus.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/airline.oxfordbus.co.uk\/<\/a>. In Oxford, airport bus stops include the terminus (&#8220;Gloucester Green&#8221;) and also &#8220;High Street&#8221;, which is immediately outside the Eastgate hotel (see map below).<\/p>\n<p>You can also get to Oxford by train from Heathrow via London, and from Gatwick via Reading \u2013 details at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalrail.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www.nationalrail.co.uk\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stanstedairport.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London Stansted airport<\/a>, take the Stansted Express train service to Liverpool Street and then take the tube to either Paddington or Marylebone for direct trains to Oxford.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trains<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Direct services run from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.networkrail.co.uk\/stations\/paddington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London Paddington<\/a> (serving Oxford station) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chilternrailways.co.uk\/routes-and-destinations\/london-marylebone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">London Marylebone<\/a> (serving Oxford and Oxford Parkway stations).
